As a family photographer in Colorado Springs, my greatest passion is to create an experience for the families I am honored to serve. I want nothing more than to allow you to make memories during a photography session while receiving quality photos and printing options that will last a lifetime. I want you to be able to focus on bonding with your children, adoring your spouse, and further threading the ties that define the love shared between your family. With me as your photographer, we will document the little moments, the defining milestones, and every candid, precious moment in between to forever preserve your family’s story.
After you inquire with me I like to setup a planning consultation for your photo session. We can do this over the phone, Zoom, or my personal favorite is in person over coffee or a plate of french fries. I like to get to know my clients and chat about your desires for your images. Would you like to do something outside or in your home? Do you prefer more traditional posing with a beautiful backdrop of Pikes Peak or can I follow you around and capture your family making waffles on a Saturday morning. Next I will ask you how and where you would like to display your images – whether it is on a beautiful canvas above your sofa or in a deluxe album on your coffee table. How best can we showcase your story? I will have some sample products for you to see and touch so you can begin imagining what will suite you best.

Your photo session has finally arrived. So what exactly happens at the shoot? We will take a few minutes to pow-wow. I will chat with the kids and will reiterate to all of you this is not a ‘normal’ photoshoot. I will not be holding my fingers counting to three and telling everyone to say cheese, well maybe I will for a few shots, but this will not be our entire session. Instead I will ask you questions, like show me your favorite toy or whats the best part of your room. If we our outside I will have us explore our surroundings and get the family interacting with one another. During this time I take very intentional photographs. There may be moments when I say “hold that” or “will you do that again”. I may also lightly direct things like what position you are in depending on the space and the light to ensure we get to capture the frame just right. Depending on the length of session you choose I may lead us into different activities we discussed during your planning session to ensure we are capturing a complete story.
I have been to photographers who don’t really provide direction as shots are being taken. I am not a model and I don’t know what will translate well in photos, so it can feel very awkward. Taryn, however, provided the perfect balance of direction. My husband and I felt comfortable and the photos turned out natural looking, without appearing staged. She is so warm, friendly, professional, and easy to work with.
Within a couple weeks of our session, we will have an image selection and product ordering appointment. We can meet at a coffee shop, in your home, or online. I will hand select the best images from your session and do a soft edit on the photographs in my editing style. We will view them in a custom slideshow. Then we can go through one by one and select your absolute favorites. Hopefully from our consultation you already have an idea of which products you would like to display your beautiful images, but if you are still undecided we can go through the options again. We can even use software to put YOUR images on YOUR walls! Technology is AMAZING! As soon as your order is paid in full, your products will arrive within 2-6 weeks for you to treasure for a lifetime.
