Vacation with a toddler couldn’t have been any easier. There are so many ‘things’ as well as such a specific rhythm to the day with nap time that could have made a trip difficult or not as enjoyable, but I couldn’t have asked for a better getaway. This is all thanks to my college roommate who we visited in the Portland area. She has 2 kids so she not only ‘got it’, but she was so sweet to share her kid friendly space with us. They even had an extra car seat and pack and play so we literally just brought carry-ons. I don’t think I have ever traveled that light even without a kid.
We had such a relaxing week. As Collin put it “having kids around makes the day feel really long, but that’s nice for a vacation.” We spent some time in Portland, and ended our trip out at her parent’s beach house on the WA coast. I loved watching our kids play, and it was so nice to catch up and talk about our lives post college. Adeline loved exploring with us. She was a huge fan of eating her favorite food, blueberries right off of the bush! And she loved spending so much time with daddy, as if she wasn’t a daddy’s girl already, this trip definitely reinforced their bond. I love watching them together.
